Slow Down to Speed Up: Making Room for Growth, Creativity, and Joy

Feeling stretched thin in life or business? Here’s why slowing down might be your next power move—and how creating space can lead to more joy, creativity, and meaningful celebrations.

The quiet moments are where the best ideas rise—just like cake.

Lately, I’ve been in a season of quiet listening. Podcasts in my earbuds while I’m mixing buttercream. A few good books cracked open between client calls. And over and over again, this phrase keeps circling back to me:

”Slow down to speed up.”

At first glance, it feels backward—especially in a culture that prizes hustle and full calendars. But the more I sit with it, the more I realize how deeply true it is.

One book that really hit home is 10x Is Easier Than 2x by Benjamin Hardy. He talks about this powerful idea: that only 20% of what we do truly moves us closer to our goals. The rest? It just takes up space—mental, physical, emotional. And if we want to grow, really grow, we have to be brave enough to let go of the 80% that isn’t serving us.

It’s not about doing more.

It’s about doing less—but doing it deeply, beautifully, intentionally.

It’s about creating blank space.

The Courage to Create Space

Blank space is a funny thing. We think it means nothingness, but in reality, it’s where everything begins. It’s the space where ideas bubble up, creativity returns, clarity settles in.

Creating space isn’t passive. It’s powerful.

This past year, I’ve been making some shifts in my business—and in my mindset. I’ve been asking myself questions like:

• What brings me the most joy?

• What makes the biggest impact?

• What feels aligned with the version of my business I want to grow into?

And just as importantly:

What’s not working anymore? What can I let go of?

Letting go sounds graceful, but in practice, it takes guts. There’s grief in releasing things that were once good, even if they aren’t great anymore. But there’s also relief. Freedom. Space. And in that space? So much beauty.

Are We Addicted to Doing?

The truth is, it’s easy to fill our days with tasks and to-dos. It gives us the illusion of productivity and control. But all busy isn’t profitable—and all effort isn’t purposeful.

Sometimes, I wonder: Are we doing so we don’t have to be?

Because being is vulnerable. Being invites us to feel. To face. To ask the harder questions.

But being is where the magic is.

That’s where vision lives.

That’s where intuition speaks up.

That’s where we remember who we are and what we truly want.

The Luxury of Living Slowly

This idea of slowing down isn’t just about business—it’s about life. It’s about romancing your days. Celebrating more. Creating beauty just because.

Because life is made of tiny moments. And most of them don’t shout. They whisper.

We just need enough quiet to hear them.

And honestly? That’s what my work is about.

Not just making beautiful cakes—but helping you celebrate beautifully.

My joy is in creating custom pieces that turn your most meaningful moments into edible art. Whether it’s a milestone birthday, an anniversary dinner, or just a Tuesday that deserves a little sparkle—I’m here to help you celebrate with intention.

To take something off your plate… by putting something delicious on it.

So if you’re ready to stop rushing through life and start romancing it instead, I’d love to create something unforgettable for your next celebration.
